Verrucopapillary lesions represents a group of lesions that exhibit clinically and histologically, finger-like surface projections. Such lesions are common in oral cavity. Verrucopapillary lesions are diagnostically challenging as they include a spectrum of reactive, benign, potentially malignant, malignant or idiopathic lesions. Some of these lesions have high potential for malignant transformation. Prompt treatment after recognition of the lesion is important so as to prevent recurrences and malignant transformation. This review tries to provide a deeper insight into characteristic features of each lesion so as to provide direction in their diagnosis, assessment and management of their biological nature.
