The present study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of user education programmes for postgraduate students in the Faculty of Management at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Westville Campus. The study intended to identify user education strategies and polices that are in place in the Faculty of Management at UKZN, determine the effectiveness of user education programmes for postgraduate students, determine the level of collaboration between subject librarians and academic staff, examine the methods used by subject librarians to assess the effectiveness of user education programmes and determine the problems experienced by subject librarians in terms of current user education programmes. The study adopted both a qualitative and a quantitative approach. A self-administered questionnaire for students and a semi-structured interview schedule was used to gather data from the academic coordinators and subject librarians. The overall findings revealed that marketing tools used to promote user education were not successful.
