Knygos aprašymas

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) affects a huge proportion of the population worldwide and it is more widely recognized as a significant health issue characterized by a wide spectrum of pathological symptoms followed by long-term disability. The various post-injury acute and chronic mechanisms may contribute to neurodegeneration. Patients with a history of TBI are more likely to develop proteinopathy, which is a pathological hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases. This book mainly focuses on the epidemiology, Pathophysiology, animal model that are linked to TBI.A window for therapeutic interventions is provided by the secondary brain injuries that follow the first brain insult, which results in the parenchyma suffering immediate, severe, and permanent damage. As of now, degeneration of axons, oxidative stress, oxidative stress mitochondrial malfunction, excitotoxicity and apoptotic cell death of neurons and glia are hallmark phenomena after delayed secondary CNS injury. Despite the fact that each TBI case is unique and that affected people show varying levels of damage, varying localised injury patterns, and profile of recovery differing.
