Über Gleichheit und Gleichzeitigkeit

Die Arbeiten von Bernhard Holaschke (geb. 1986 in Heilbronn, lebt und arbeitet in Berlin und Prien am Chiemsee) sind geprägt von der Auseinandersetzung mit menschlicher Existenz, ihrer Verortung in der Welt und Kulturgeschichte. Holaschke hinterfragt Gleichheit und Gleichzeitigkeit von Emotionen, Dingen und ihren Werten. Dazu verwendet er Medien wie Zeichnung, Malerei, Objekt und Video. Er bespielt klassische Ausstellungssituationen, kreiert Musikvideos und inszeniert visuelle Liveshows - zum Beispiel auf Technofestivals, in der Berliner Philharmonie oder in sakralen Bauten.

This Is All I Could Do setzt zum einen mit der Dokumentation von I Do Many Things , der ersten Ausstellung in Holaschkes Geburtsstadt, einen Schwerpunkt auf seine großformatige Malerei. Zum anderen gibt das Buch einen atmosphärischen Überblick seines OEuvres mit einer Auswahl an Arbeiten, Ausstellungen und Projekten der letzten Dekade. Neben Kommentaren des Künstlers enthält das Buch Essays von Tobias Kämpf, Eric Keil und Lena Malich.

On Equivalence and Simultaneity

Bernhard Holaschke's (b. Heilbronn, 1986; lives and works in Berlin and Prien am Chiemsee) works are informed by his probing reflections on human existence, its place in the world, and cultural history. Holaschke questions the equivalence and simultaneity of emotions, things, and their values, using media including drawing, painting, object art, and video. He makes works for presentation in conventional exhibition settings, creates music videos, and stages visual shows that have gone live at techno festivals, the Berlin Philharmonic, and in churches, among other venues.

This Is All I Could Do combines the documentation of I Do Many Things , Holaschke's first exhibition in his native Heilbronn, which puts the focus on his paintings in large formats, with an introduction to his oeuvre that surveys his works, exhibitions, and projects of the past decade. With notes by the artist and essays by Tobias Kämpf, Eric Keil, and Lena Malich.
