The World Health Organization, also known as WHO, is one of the specialized organizations under the United Nations (UN). The United Nations has other specialized subdivisions that you have heard many of (the Universal Postal Union, the International Maritime Organization, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, etc.). In 1945, that is exactly the time when the United Nations was formed after the Second World War, this debate was also formed among countries that something should be done to coordinate the activities of the health sector. This concern caused the first international health conference to be held a year later, in 1946. The result of that conference was that the members were able to prepare the draft Constitution of the World Health Organization (we usually translate the Constitution as the Constitution. But in fact, every big organization and institution that is going to be formed needs a constitution.
