Rosmini is acknowledged as a great Christian philosopher, original and daring in his teaching, and utterly convincing. He is less known as a theologian, mainly because nearly all his theological works have been published after his death, having been left unfinished by the author. Yet, they are truly outstanding and precious, in line with the writings of the great Fathers of the Church, extremely learned on Scripture and on the teaching of the Magisterium, and throwing new light on our understanding of the Trinity, of the supernatural world of grace, and of the Sacraments. The present book is a commentary on the introduction to the Gospel of St. John, and deals with the eternal generation of the Word, the Word's role in Creation, the actions of the Word throughout Salvation History, the death and resurrection of JESUS, and the Eucharistic life in relation to the Christian. The subject matter is difficult but inspired and uplifting: great light is thrown on the great Christian Mysteries, with much warmth and desire to elicit a generous response.
