Knygos aprašymas

The Oedipus Tyrannus, also known as Oedipus Rex, is a Greek tragedy written by Sophocles in 429 BC. The play tells the story of Oedipus, the king of Thebes, who unknowingly fulfills a prophecy that he will kill his father and marry his mother. As the play begins, Thebes is suffering from a plague, and Oedipus sets out to find the cause of the curse. Through a series of revelations and discoveries, Oedipus learns that he himself is the cause of the plague and that he has unknowingly fulfilled the prophecy. The play explores themes of fate, free will, and the consequences of one's actions. It is considered one of the greatest works of ancient Greek literature and has been widely studied and performed throughout history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
