The Astrologer: A Comedy is a play written by James Ralph and first performed in 1744. The story follows the character of Balderdash, an astrologer who uses his knowledge of the stars to manipulate those around him. He convinces a wealthy merchant, Sir Timothy Treatall, to invest in a risky business venture and also tries to win the heart of a young woman named Belinda. However, his plans are foiled by the arrival of a rival astrologer and a series of misunderstandings and mishaps.
