Any work of art takes time. In the case of a tapestry, it starts as an idea. The weaver gathers the raw materials and the tools to work them-thread, needles, shuttle, loom-prepares them, weaves them, and tamps them. Slowly, bit by bit, an image starts to appear; however, it's not until completion that the designer's vision is apparent. Randy Valimont wasn't sure what to make of the raw materials of his life.
