The one who cleans our rooms, the person who sweeps out our mess, the person who keeps our streets and country clean, do we remember their names? They are sweepers who work all day to provide us with a clean environment. Without sweepers, we won¿t have the privileges to walk on clean streets and roads. We owe them big time for these luxuries of a clean India. However sadly, the health hazards faced by them owing to their occupation are neglected and hasn¿t been studied extensively. Hence this study has been conducted to gain an in-depth knowledge about the various health hazards faced by the street workers and to evaluate the knowledge, practice and attitude of sweepers towards use of personal protective equipments ( PPE). Measures have been recommended to improvise the condition of the sweepers.
