Based loosely on factual evidence, the book tells the story of unrequited love between two young Fijian children who had made a promise to each other, that they will spend their whole lives together. Baloo had no time for materialistic things he wanted to study, and had made his father very proud of him, which upset his brothers and his step-mother. The fight to discredit Baloo had been by his brother's jealousy and envious nature.
