In guar a critical requirement for crop improvement is the introduction of new genetic material in the cultivated lines of interest, whether through conventional or non-conventional breeding or PTC techniques.Failure to gain success in hybridization of Cyamopsis species by conventional breeding is likely due to presence of natural pre-and/or post-fertilization barriers. This work on interspecific hybridization and in vitro plant regeneration encompasses six chapters.Chapter-1 highlights the background for selection of three species of Cyamopsis along with objectives;Chapter-2 is compilation of update relevant literature in the area of reproductive biology, interspecific hybridization and in vitroculture studies;Chapter-3 presents details of materials & techniques applied;Chapter-4 deals with findings of the study supported by tables, graphs & photographs;Chapter-5 discusses the findings in the light of available literature and Chapter-6 put forwards the summary of the findings which is followed by literature cited. This work will of immense use for researchers working on plant reproductive biology,PTC and breeders.
