This is an introductory script for the tyros of glass sciences and nanophotonics. It contains basics about the structure and various properties of silicate glass. It also focuses on the amendment of optical properties of glasses via doping/diffusion of transition metal nanoparticles in to it. After reading this script one will be able to know about various routs of the diffusion of transition metal ions into silicate glasses. Furthermore, this script has the detailed characterization techniques and excellent results (including SEIs, FTIR Spectrograhps, SPR Preaks and EDX) that provides a gateway to the basic understanding about glass structure and its properties.
