Pulp stones are foci of calcification in the dental pulp. Calcification can occur in the dental pulp as diffuse or discrete calcified stones that may exist freely in the pulp tissue or become attached to or embedded into dentin. Pulp stones have been classified as either true or false, depending upon their microscopic structures. They are not clinically discernible but are common radiographic findings.With this background, the present study was aimed at estimating the prevalence of pulp stones by bitewing radiographs. This study also aimed at correlating the prevalence of pulp stones with that of age, gender, dental status, dental diseases and systemic diseases.
