For the first time, plant invasion in different ancient times is being revealed based on textual evidence. It reflects indigenous knowledge through various categories of texts ranging from the Indian epics, classic literature like vedas, samhitas, Ayurvedic texts, miscellaneous Sanskrit texts, scripts by eminent in historical period, plant world depicted on various historic monuments, etc. It reveals socio-cultural conditions and economic history through ages up to the close 19th century. It sheds light on contacts of Indian societies worldwide in ancient past. It presents history of botanical developments in all times. At the first time, revelations of plant invasion on Indian landmass is being presented comprehensively inclusive of forgotten precious landmarks. Importance of Indian plant wealth was also known do outside India internationally. This is satisfactorily presented. Attempts of the foreigners in finding out significance of Indian plants are limlighted, as also their endeavours in introducing exotic but important bioresources on Indian landmass. History of botanical science by the Indian eminents of ancient time is discussed.
