The present investigation it can be concluded that the pharmacognostical study of Cestrum nocturnum roots yielded a qualitative and quantitative parameters or standards that can serve as an important possible sources of information to ascertain the identity and to determine the quality and purity of the plant material. These information will also be helpful to differentiate Cestrum nocturnum from the closely related other species and varieties of Cestrum.The ethanolic extract of Cestrum nocturnum root exhibited significant anti-convulsant activity against Maximum electroshock induced seizures in wistar rats. Also the roots of Cestrum nocturnum are very much untouched in area of research and ample probabilities of having various pharmacological activities should be there because other literature review suggest other part of this plant such as leaves,stem etc. possess a variety of pharmacological activities which is of great use it treating various ailments.
