Periodontics is a rapidly changing branch of dentistry with new scientific revelations unveiling many mysteries. Periodontal medicine is a rapidly emerging branch of periodontology focussing on the research of new data establishing a strong relationship between periodontal health or disease and systemic health or disease. Periodontitis has been linked to over 50 systemic diseases and conditions.
