Abstract: Once the Door is Closed was an 18 month ethnographic study of four teachers who implemented a self-contained, multi grade shattered English academic program for Cambodian and Vietnamese refugees in grades k-9. The dissertation documents in detail, the school district and school contexts, and the program as four teachers implemented it. Dissertation Discovery Company and University of Florida are dedicated to making scholarly works more discoverable and accessible throughout the world.
