As a social science, the field of museum studies is a new domain. A comparatively recent field, it is sometimes placed under Cultural Studies. It represents a domain that is carving out a space albeit slowly as witnessed within the last two decades. Museum Studies though recent, in university programs, is more advanced in western universities that offer it, unlike in the developing countries. One of the main aims for undertaking this work was to explore and investigate the forces affecting museum practice , explore key areas of interest for, researchers, policy makers and professionals of the Heritage milieu.Though much attention is paid to museum practice, the work is not only about bringing out the nuances between museum studies and practice but represents a comprehensive inquest in the changing landscape of the museum sector in Cameroon with perspectives from Sweden. The relevance of the book lies in the fact that, within the context of Cameroon, published literature in the field of Museum research is scanty. The work constitutes a milestone which will find relevance among the literature that exist on the subject for future reseach.
