Knygos aprašymas

Waste generation in recent times has become man's greatest plague due to the hazards it poses to public health and environment. This book is a comprehensive review of Municipal Solid Waste management technologies in developed countries such as Germany and developing countries such as China. From the findings of the research work, it is obvious that developed countries despite the advancement in waste handling technologies are still contributing immensely to Green House Gas emissions which the entire world is fighting towards minimizing. For example, the bottom ash generated by incineration waste treatment technology is highly toxic and contaminates ground water when disposed in landfills. Also, developing countries such as China is still facing challenges in attempt to find a more suitable technological approach in solving its waste management problems which are all contributors of global warming and climate change. In other words, indiscriminate disposal of waste and landfill option is still a major waste disposal alternative in most developing countries due to lack of advanced technologies to solve this problems.
