Mucins, glycoproteins with substantial molecular weight, play diverse biological roles. Among the transmembrane mucin family, MUC1 and MUC4 find expression in airway epithelial cells and bodily fluids. Notably, their expression is altered and often overexpressed in various carcinomas.
