Toady, world is facing the biggest problem in lower production rate of crops due to various abiotic stresses which directly creates the problem of food scarcity. Stay Green trait showed positive correlation between delayed crop senescence and grain yield and indicated that the potential for higher plant productivity may be due to a longer period of active photosynthesis. In present investigation, the attempts were made to characterize the Stay Green Trait in some of the wheat genotypes based on the morphological, physiological, and biochemical characters. For this purpose, twenty varieties were randomly selected and their agronomic characters were studied. For further study, the ten varieties were selected on basis of above studied parameters for inducing mutation by treating them with Ethyl Methyl Sulphonate. The agronomic characters of the control and treatment plants were studied. The result obtained indicated that two wheat varieties had performed after EMS treatment and they both may be recommended for better yield under drought, heat like abiotic stresses. They also may be considered as Stay Green mutant wheat varieties.
