The culture of contemporary Sri Lanka is found to be rather unique and displays adherence to high moral and ethical standards, a phenomenon apparent in practically all walks of life. It seems that whatever violation of these cultural constructs and manifestations by the members of the Sri Lankan society is looked down upon and abhorred by the population at large. The writer who once functioned as a Professor in one of the self-financing Private Tertiary Educational Institutes in Sri Lanka had recently witnessed a blatant gross violation of the morality and chastity values by a young visiting lecturer (DOB: 02/12/1991) together with one of his first-year girl-students (DOB: 16/07/1995) of the Institute consensually and the gargantuan impact that fiasco had on the reputation, honour, financial viability and the sustained future of the Institution. Thus, it must be emphasized that practically all the data and information provided in this book were based on primary data and empirical evidence. However, the average decent and innocent love affairs among the young students are regarded as nothing obnoxious or immoral and thus have not cast any adverse repercussions.
