Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common viral infection of the reproductive tract. Cervical cancer is by far the most common HPV-related disease. Virtually, all cases of cervical cancer are caused by HPV, and just two HPV types 16 and 18 are responsible for about 70 percent of all cases This study was designed to evaluate the molecular detections and genotyping of human papilloma virus (HPV) by using two different methods. In addition to detection methylation patterns (promoter region) which is responsible for silencing of tumor suppressor genes (the promotor for PAX1 gene) as hallmarks and the potential diagnostic value for cervical cancer screening.
