The purpose of this study is to grasp the mannerism phenomenon, which the psychiatric nurses experience at the psychiatric department. Methods: This study applied Colaizzi¿s phenomenological research methodology to grasp the meaning and nature of the experience inherent in nurses¿ experience when they do nursing service for research subjects. As a result of the analysis of the data collected through the participants, and the five theme clusters are as follows: ¿Being loss of passion¿, ¿Becoming impassive mien¿, ¿Watching and fold up one's mind¿, ¿Assimilating into the situation¿ and ¿Being aware of one¿s change to existing Style.¿ Conclusion: This study provided to state the phenomenon of their mannerism experience, and to grasp the nature of the meaning of the mannerism experience. Accordingly, a psychiatric nurse is supposed to meditate on the nature of nursing for qualitative nursing service for a mental patient through the momentum like this, and further, medical authorities are required to apply the nursing intervention therapy for true nursing service offering, and to establish the institutional, administrative system for this.
