Knygos aprašymas

The study of peculiarities of perception and interpretation of events covered in modern media, presenting structured and adapted information, belongs to one of the most topical problems of modern science. In connection with the active processes of globalisation, as well as the consequences of the global financial crisis, it is most interesting to study the image of China presented in the mass media space of the USA. The book deals with theoretical background of the research: the concept of "image" as an information model in the system of consciousness of a personality is defined. According to the thematic principle, the main fragments of the collective image of China are identified. The linguistic analysis of each fragment is presented, allowing to identify the characteristic features of the described object. The research of the image through the analysis of the linguistic units which verbalize it can help to expand the arsenal of research methods used by young scientists in sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics and linguoculturology.
