Knygos aprašymas

Bangladesh ecosystem is rich and diverse with a large variety of fish and different sorts of habitats bearing national and global significances. Oxbow lakes are an important component of Bangladesh aquatic ecosystem. Marked with a characteristic and unique diverse biotope, introduction of alien species into natural waterbodies and allied aquacultural activities have become issues of great concern. Carp fingerling stocking-induced aquaculture, to some extent, imbalanced lake ecosystem and lake biodiversity in cases of severe aquaculture interventions exerting an adverse impact on NIFS at and above species level. The endeavour offered tools and techniques for such study and attempted to assess and measure the impact of carp stocking on species diversity, yield and recruitment of NIFS in two series of oxbow lakes centered around Jessore, Bangladesh.
