I. N. R. I.: Frohe Botschaft Eines Armen Sunders (1905) is a novel written by Peter Rosegger. The title is an acronym for the Latin words ""Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum"" (Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews), which were inscribed on the cross where Jesus was crucified. The novel tells the story of a poor sinner named Matthias who is sentenced to death for stealing a loaf of bread. On his way to the gallows, he meets a group of people who are on their way to witness the crucifixion of Jesus. Matthias is deeply moved by Jesus' message of love and forgiveness, and he becomes a believer. The novel explores themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the power of faith. It is considered one of Rosegger's most important works and has been translated into several languages. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
