Anaerobic degradation of the pharmaceutical industry wastewater is carried out in the hybrid UASB reactor. Based on the results, I can conclude that the UASB reactor and the modification done in the reactor can be used for the pharmaceutical industry wastewater. The maximum COD removal efficiency is 71.99 % with average effluent COD concentration as 62000 mg/l. In 1st recycle it is 56.75% max and 66.27% max it is increased to 69.35% in 1st continuous system. The average BOD removal efficiency in the 1st and 2nd recycling system it is 37.23% and it is 71.9% maximum in both continuous systems. It is decreased maximum to 5975 mg/L from average in fluent BOD 19000 mg/L. The initial pH of the influent was average 8.5, and the final effluent pH was decreased to 6.9. There was a very favorable change of the pH after the biological reaction. In batch type reactor maximum COD removal is 82 %, it can be said that the batch type reactor gives more efficiency. Here the reactor produces a sufficient amount of the methane gas which can be used as fuel, which is a potential source of the energy. Also, it gives high efficiency for the reactor, and it can be used for the treatment.
