In dentistry, phytomedicines have been used as anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, analgesic and sedative agents. In endodontics, because of the cytotoxic reactions of the most of the commercial intra-canal medicaments used and their inability to eliminate bacteria from dentinal tubules, trend of recent medicine attends to use biologic medication extracted from natural plants. With so much potential properties and widespread use of herbal products, it becomes imperative to know each one of them with regard to their availability, properties and uses in dentistry. Hence an attempt is made to review the various herbal products used in dentistry.
