This compelling research investigates the obscure and often misunderstood area of Substation Grounding. What parameters ensure a safe Grounding Grid and how can this knowledge be used to optimise a substation grounding system for the transmission substation in Gaza City, Palestine with all of its geographical and political challenges? This research outlines the most influential parameters in general terms on the effectiveness of a substation grounding grid. Then through modelling and simulating the power station in Gaza, whilst considering its field and apparatus data, an optimal substation grounding grid was designed for the region ensuring complete conformance to safety for equipment and personnel should the largest fault traverse the earth.
