Gabriel Lock: Bound by Law

We first meet Gabriel when he is packing up his things and resigning from the State Attorney's Office to join his father's civil law firm. As he's leaving, he tells a colleague that he doesn't want to pursue justice through punishment, but through service to his clients. However, Gabriel will slowly learn that his role is not actually about finding justice for his clients, but placing himself between them and the threats that jeopardize their dreams and way of life. He is a different kind of legal hero, he doesn't have a backstory of hard knocks, tragedy, or foundational trauma. He is just a common man, working uncommon cases in the Miami of the 80s, a city defined by cocaine cowboys and an exploding migrant population. His clients, however, are the hardworking, multicultural, salt of the earth people who managed to build honest lives and community amidst the chaos and corruption on the other side of Miami Vice. Through the stories of his 8 clients and their cases, Gabriel realizes the depth of difficulty that all of his decisions have on their lives, from deciding strategy to litigating in the courtroom. Bound by Law demonstrates the ins and outs of the legal system and not just the highlights on TV. The year is 1981 and Gabriel's journey is about to begin.
