He sets out to find him, but is betrayed by his friend, the foundling, who steals his money and runs away.William is left alone and penniless, but he refuses to give up. He eventually finds his father and discovers that he is a wealthy man. However, he also learns that his father has been involved in fraudulent activities and is wanted by the authorities. William must decide whether to turn his father in or help him escape.Meanwhile, the foundling, whose name is James, has fallen in with a group of criminals and is living a life of crime.
