A transdermal patch or skin patch is a medicated adhesive patch that is placed on the skin to deliver a specific dose of medication through the skin and into the bloodstream. Often, this promotes healing to an injured area of the body. Lornoxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug of the oxicam class with analgesic, anti- inflammatory and antipyretic properties. Lornoxicam differs from other oxicam compounds in its potent inhibition of prostaglandin biosynthesis, a property that particularly explains the pronounced efficacy of the drug. Lornoxicam is used for the treatment of various types of pain, especially resulting from inflammatory diseases of the joints, osteoarthritis, surgery, sciatica, and other inflammations. The aim of the present research work was to formulation designing, characterization, in-vitro and in-vivo anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic properties.
