Knygos aprašymas

The book entitled "Feministic Ethos in Pre-Independence and Post-Independence Indian Literature: A Comprehensive Study" throws light on the feminist perspective in the works of Indian authors before and after independence. In the present book an attempt has been made to delineate and portray the feministic aspects by covering the period before and after independence of India to draw a comparison between the position of women before independence and position of women after the independence. The Pre-independence authors comprise of the Sarojini Naidu, Savitribai Phule, Cornelia Sarobji and Krupabhai Sathianandan who worked tirelessly for the emancipation of females in India. Savitribai Phule was a staunch feminist who, along with his husband, Jyotiba Phule worked for the upliftment of women in the society. She is considered to be the pioneer of feminist movement in India. Besides that, she was also a social activist who worked in the direction of elimination of different abuses and social problems rampant in Indian society such as sati system, child marriage and education of the girls in society.
