As a young man, he is a cavalryman of the Red Army and fight for the equality and freedom of all the peoples of the Russian Empire. His hopes are cruelly deceived, the USSR is in the grip of Stalin terror. As a geologist, he works in the boundless Kazakh steppes. Three times he is betrayed by his closest friend, and three times he barely escapes execution in the dungeons of the KGB. The second part describes the life and misadventures of his daughter during the World War II and after the victory. She is severely punished at school for disrespect for the "adored" leader - Stalin. Later - University, and work of students in cotton fields of Uzbekistan, then meeting with bandits and rapists, and salvation by a "murderer and knight". The third part consists from 8 different stories: The fate of the girl, whose father was shot during the time of the terrible Stalinist terror. The fatal love and despair of one young woman.
