Knygos aprašymas

Endo-perio lesions are localized, circumscribed areas of bacterial infection that originate from either dental pulp or periodontal tissues surrounding the involved tooth/ teeth or both. Endodontic-periodontal lesions persist as two different disease entities but show signs of both the disease processes in a single tooth making the diagnosis difficult and making the clinical diagnosis and treatment a challenge for clinician. Therefore knowledge of both disease processes and pathogenesis is essential for proper diagnosis and treatment planning. The unique etiology and pathogenesis of the endodontic-periodontal disease dictates the required management plan of these challenging clinical cases and the prognosis of the affected teeth. The diagnosis of endodontic-periodontal lesions may be intriguing, since both periodontal and endodontic diseases have similar clinical and radiographic symptoms and may mimic each other. Moreover, the simultaneous occurrence of the pulpal and periodontal pathology can complicate the diagnosis and treatment and compromise the prognosis of the involved teeth. The present dissertation will focus upon various aspects of endodontic -periodontal lesions.
