In the modern world, most of the trade between countries is carried out within Global Value Chains (GVCs), which have become a strong driver of global economic growth. Also, not all countries are sufficiently penetrated into these chains and can benefit from integration there. Our research especially tries to fill in the gap for the Republic of Moldova (RM) and Romania. This book covers the results of research projects carried out by the author in recent years, regarding the engagement of the RM and neighboring countries in external fragmentation of production through cross-country comparisons and establishing convergence points. In the first chapter the author¿s contribution is made to better understand the insertion of Romania in the external fragmentation of production by using the wide range of WEB simulation tools of International Institutes. In the second chapter of the book we explore the measure of engagement of Eastern Partnership countries and the RM in GVCs. The results of the research could be used in the process of elaboration of adequate education, research and development, labour market, industrial policies by decision-makers, and the private sector of the countries.
