Musik bewegt Menschen, Massen, Götter. Dass sie "Macht" hat, scheint offensichtlich. Wie aber wurde diese Macht während verschiedener Epochen erfahren? Wie gedeutet? Wie gesteuert? Welche Rolle kommt ihr in den christlichen Konfessionen zu? Kann sie verbinden, was durch anderes getrennt wurde? Wann ist das Geistige auch geistlich oder gar göttlich? Vertreter der Musikwissenschaft, Musikpädagogik, Ägyptologie, Literaturwissenschaften, Philosophie und Theologie behandeln das Thema im interdisziplinären Verbund und eröffnen in mehreren Beiträgen ökumenische Perspektiven, die sich in ein anthropologisches Gesamtfeld einordnen.

Prof. Dr. Dr. Jean Ehret ist Direktor der Luxembourg School of Religion & Society und Mitglied der "Section des sciences morales et politiques" des Institut grand-ducal.

Music moves people, masses, gods. That it has "power" seems obvious. But how was this power experienced through the ages? How interpreted? How was it controlled? What role does it play in Christian denominations? Can it unite what has been separated by others? When is the mental also spiritual or even divine? Representatives of musicology, music pedagogy, Egyptology, literary studies, philosophy, and theology treat the topic in an interdisciplinary network and open ecumenical perspectives in several contributions, which fit into an anthropological comprehensive field.
