Knygos aprašymas

Job satisfaction is a compound, comprehensive concept that differs from individual to individual based on their contentment with work. Most of the research studies in job satisfaction has been carried out in the context of Manufacturing industries and various service industries. Job satisfaction study and the relationship between job satisfaction and job performance is not vividly explored in the context of service institutions like educational institutions. In this study, we have attempted to deploy a modified JCM questionnaire to study the factors influencing the job satisfaction among the faculty members in a publicly funded as well in Deemed and private affiliated institutions offering engineering programmes at the undergraduate level. The study highlights a causal model (structural equation modelling (SEM)), incorporating the five job characteristics dimensions and three critical psychological states proposed by Hackman and Oldham. In this study these dimensions are considered on the basis of their importance and factors which motivate the faculty internally for their job satisfaction.
