THIS BOOK Of all the mass extinction events in Earth¿s history, the most familiar is probably the one that wiped out the dinosaurs and ushered in the age of the mammals on the Earth. In the clay, there was a sharp increase in iridium¿an element of the rare earth elements in Earth¿s crust. That suggested an extraterrestrial visitor . In Egypt , Deep marine origin of more complete exposed sediments of uppermost Cretaceous / early Danian ( early Paleocene) in Southern Sinai , that layer of clay is exposed and formerly present those boundary . These rocks were laid down nearly 66 million years ago during the extinction event.
