As the year 2019 approached its end months, there was an arrival of a new viral infection, COVID-19 in Wuhan, China. Nobody had thought that New Year 2020 would rather become a black year in the entire history bringing the Earth to a halt. On 30th January, 2020 COVID-19 was declared as public health emergency and on 11th March, 2020 it was declared as global pandemic. Almost entire world came to a standstill and as for us Indians from 25th March, 2020 the entire nation underwent lockdown. Millions of people were infected from this viral disease leading to death of lakhs. The present outbreak of a coronavirus-associated with acute respiratory disease called coronavirus disease 19 is the third documented spillover of an animal coronavirus to humans in last two decades that has resulted in a major pandemic. Currently as of 4th February, 2021 there are total approximately 10.4 cr positive COVID-19 cases globally. The role of Dentists at work to prevent the spread of this disease and to manage patients¿ during this crucialtime of pandemic is the main concern. This dissertation attempts to compile the literature available till date related to COVID-19, its effects and its management.
