Knygos aprašymas

Polyphenols are ubiquitous compounds found in the plants which have attracted significant attention last decades by the researcher owing to their myriad of beneficial therapeutic activities. Although proven for their health benefits polyphenol delivery to the site actions remains largely a big challenge for the formulation scientist. Colloidal drug delivery system has revolutionized drug delivery, allowing for therapeutic agents to be selectively targeted on an organ. Nanoemulsion is preferred than other formulations as it has several advantages like it provides a better chance for the lipophilic drug to be solubilised easily in oily phase as well as rapidly absorbed by allowing a more intimate and prolonged contact between the drug and the mucosal membrane. Problems related to the poor solubility and bioavailability of variety of polyphenols after oral administration can be solved with lipidic formulations.
