At the mouth of Ganga - Brahmaputra river system,Sundarbans represents one of the largest single chunk of mangrove forests. The mangrove vegetation is greatly influenced by soil properties along with salinity. The soil structure and soil salinity control the distribution of mangroves in Indian Sundarbans.
