The contemporary world appears to be a global village full of various ideas and points of view. A good representation of this concept seems to be modern art with its diversity of artistic expressions and objects. Because this concept is so international and diverse, it shall be an appropriate basis for language learning ¿ a great starting point to teach understanding of foreign culture and foreign people. Moreover, modern art uses a wide variety of artistic forms that can be implemented as visual aids ¿ so beneficial in learning not only languages. The combination of these two factors seems to be essential when it comes to teaching and learning languages. The aim of this book is to present the opportunities arising from the use of modern visual arts as a tool in teaching vocabulary to very young learners and to propose a wide range of methods and ideas for further practical use. The book depicts a new art-based methodology of language teaching that was implemented during workshops for very young learners at Galeria Labirynt in Lublin, Poland.
