The increasing demand for energy storage systems, particularly in the realm of electric vehicles and renewable energy sources, necessitates the development of efficient and reliable battery management systems (BMS). This project aims to design, implement, and optimize a BMS specifically tailored for lithium-ion batteries, which are widely used due to their high energy density and long cycle life. The laboratory experiments conducted in this study involve the characterization of individual battery cells, including the measurement of key parameters such as voltage, current, temperature, and state of charge (SOC). These data are crucial for accurately monitoring and controlling the battery's performance and safety. The BMS design incorporates various hardware and software components, including Analog and Digital circuitry, microcontrollers, communication interfaces, and algorithms for cell balancing, state estimation, and fault detection. Through extensive testing and validation, the BMS is refined to ensure robustness, accuracy, and reliability in real-world applications.
