Dysmenorrhea is the occurrence of painful cramps during menstruation in the lower abdomen often accompanied by other biologic symptoms occurring just before or during the menses. It is a very common gynecological complaint that results in hundreds of millions of hours of missed school and work. It also affects the economy of a country. The objective of this study is to measure the prevalence of dysmenorrhea and assess its management practice among Sharda University students. This cross-sectional study was conducted between May and June 2019 at Sharda University, Greater Noida, Delhi NCR, India. The structured questionnaire was framed to collect relevant data from the study group consisted of 320 female students of Sharda University. The data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) computer software by descriptive statistics and statistical tests. Chi-square test for categorical variables and t-test for continuous variables were employed to determine the association between different variables. The prevalence rate of dysmenorrhea was found to be 70.1%.
